I spent last week on vacation, traveling around Washington and staying in an RV for a few days. On the fifth day, we arrived at a beautiful farmhouse Airbnb in Twisp, Washington. I decided to document a particularly lazy day of my vacation, which included some unexpectedly interesting culinary adventures.
The day began at 6:30 a.m., thanks to the bright sunlight streaming into the room. At 7 a.m., I decided to take the drone out for a spin and capture some aerial footage of the picturesque farm.

After my drone flight, I relaxed by the fireplace for a couple of hours, reading the fourth book in the Wheel of Time series and browsing on my phone. Around 9 a.m., I did a quick 10-minute yoga flow before returning to the couch for some leisurely YouTube viewing. I even spotted some deer in the yard!
At 10:30 a.m., it was time for my first real intake of the day: coffee. After brewing a cup, I set up a workspace to plan a summer weightlifting program while enjoying my coffee.

Around noon, I took advantage of the farmhouse’s architecture by doing pull-ups and push-up variations in the stairwell. Then, I had a small snack of jerky and a carrot before taking a walk around the farm to appreciate the scenery.
Finally, it was lunchtime. With a somewhat random assortment of ingredients on hand, I decided to create a carbonara-inspired pasta dish. I cooked the spaghetti in a minimal amount of salted water to create a concentrated starchy water for the sauce. While the pasta cooked, I grated fresh Parmesan cheese and mixed it with three cracked eggs.

I then sliced leftover bacon and minced some Mama Lil’s Peppers to use as the aromatic base. I also prepared a vinaigrette with pickling onion liquid, olive oil, black pepper, and mustard. After draining the pasta, I sautéed the bacon and peppers, then combined them with the pasta, starchy water, and egg-cheese mixture.

I plated the pasta with dressed greens and a piece of smoked ling cod that we had caught and smoked a few days prior. This made for a satisfying and balanced lunch, which I enjoyed while watching TV with my dad and brother.
The afternoon was spent doing laundry, relaxing outside, snacking on jolly ranchers, and generally puttering around. Around 6 p.m., I had another snack of smoked fish and a carrot.
Dinner at 7:30 p.m. was where things took an interesting turn. We had leftover ribeye steak, which I sliced for sandwiches and a stir-fry. I heated baked ziti in a pan and boiled rice cakes and ramen noodles. For the stir-fry, I rendered ribeye fat in a pan, then added sliced bamboo shoots, steak, and greens. I finished the stir-fry with egg, kimchi, ramen noodles, rice cakes, and a drizzle of oil and kimchi juice.

For the sandwiches, I toasted bread and added horseradish mayo, black pepper, vinegar sauce, red onions, and the sliced ribeye. I served the sandwiches and baked ziti alongside the stir-fry, creating a unique Italian-American-Korean fusion meal.

The beef sandwiches were a particular highlight. This concludes my account of a very lazy vacation day in Twisp.
